About this piece
The torque is one of the oldest forms in European jewellery and it has survived because it solves its own problem: no clasp to fail, no chain to tangle, and it sits where it is put.
The difficulty is springback. Silver has to be worked to precisely the right hardness — soft enough to pass the neck, hard enough to return to its exact original shape afterwards, and it must do this indefinitely. Too soft and it sags open within a month.
Finished with a fine brush along the length so it reads as a matte line rather than a mirror, which suits its weight.
