Bought at origin and at the Antwerp bench, never from an unnamed parcel. Every stone above half a carat arrives with a GIA report and a history we can account for.
The atelier
A bench, a loupe, and no second copy
Carrian Oro is a one-bench workshop in Atlanta. Everything sold here was made here, by hand, from raw stock — and none of it will be made twice.
Why one of one
A workshop that repeats a design gets efficient at it. Efficiency is the enemy of the thing we are actually selling, which is attention — the hours that go into fitting a setting to one specific stone rather than to a category of stones.
So nothing here is a line. Every piece in the collection was made once, for a particular stone that arrived on the bench, and when it sells the design retires with it. If you want something close to a piece you have seen, we will make something close — not the same.
What we will not do
We do not cast. We do not outsource setting. We do not sell stones we have not held. We do not carry inventory made speculatively in the hope someone will want it.
These are constraints, and they cost us volume. They are also the entire reason the work is worth what it is worth.
Standards
Four things we hold to
Forged, not cast
Settings are raised from recycled sterling, platinum and 18k stock by hand. Denser metal, crisper edges, and prongs that bend before they break.
Finished under the loupe
Nine polishing and setting stages, each inspected at 10× before the next begins. The inside of a shank is finished to the same standard as the face.
Serviced for life
Annual inspection, re-polishing and prong checks are included forever on anything we make. Bring it in once a year and it will outlive all of us.
Materials and provenance
All gold, platinum and silver stock is recycled. This is not a marketing position so much as a practical one: refined metal is chemically identical regardless of origin, and buying recycled removes any question about the mine it came from.
Stones are the harder problem. Diamonds are bought from dealers who can trace a stone to a specific parcel and origin, and coloured stones only from cutters we have visited. Where we cannot establish provenance, we do not buy — which occasionally means telling a client that the stone they want does not exist at a standard we are willing to sell.
Where we are
The atelier is in Inman Park, Atlanta, and it is a workshop rather than a shop — there is a bench, a polishing motor, and one chair for visitors. Appointments only, which means when you come in you have the whole afternoon rather than fifteen minutes.
